MD-led Virtual Chats

We’re running virtual chat sessions for MDs and MDs in training daily from Monday to Friday.

Stay for a minute or as long as is possible for you and come back as many times as you like. These sessions will be ongoing as long as needed.

At times like this, we tend to forget about ourselves and focus on all the things we have to do for others. The hope is by just chatting and sharing information we may do ourselves a bit of good.

The virtual chats are meant to be a safe space to talk about how we are managing.

These virtual chat sessions provide an online meeting place for exchanges of support and encouragement, where you can share your experiences with your peers just like in a doctor's lounge. Drop in and leave at your convenience.

Talk about whatever is on your mind, including COVID-19, PPE, virtual care, self-care, and even non-medical interests like sports and music.

The sessions are facilitated by Dr. Romith Naug and Dr. Roslyn Schwartz.

Dr. Romith Naug is a dually board certified (US/Canada) family physician practicing as a GP psychotherapist with an interest in CBT. He is also a hospitalist in neurorehabilitation at Providence Care Hospital and holds an adjunct assistant professor position at Queen's University with the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Family Medicine. As an aside, Romith is also a member of Medical Team Canada and participates in the World Medical Football (soccer) Championships.

Dr. Roslyn Schwartz is a GP psychotherapist in Kingston, Ontario.

Online Interpersonal and Balint Groups for Physicians

Times of crisis put pressure on one’s self esteem and relationships, but they are also an opportunity to change behaviours and address underlying conflicts. These groups provide a supportive space for seeking strategies to be more resilient and less fragile, to reduce burnout and better manage difficult work and personal relationships.

The sessions are led by Dr. Kasra Khorasani on a Zoom HIPAA (private and secure) platform. They are OHIP-covered.

Dr. Khorasani is a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and group therapist on faculty at University of Toronto. He is a past president of Canadian Group Psychotherapy Association and has over 25 years of clinical, supervision and teaching experience.

Group times

Monday Balint Group 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Three modules per year, starting on September, January, and April. No sessions in July and August 

Tuesday Balint Group 4:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday Interpersonal Psychotherapy group 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • One Module per year, September till June. No sessions in July and August 

New members will be added to the Balint Groups after an introduction/preparation session with Dr. Khorasani.

Members will be added to the Wednesday Interpersonal Psychotherapy group beginning Sept. 8, 2021.

Pause for Providers

Since October 21st, 'Pause 4 Providers' is no longer offering live mindfulness sessions. 

You can still access pre-recorded videos that are created by healthcare providers who are experienced mindfulness teachers.
